Conditions looked good for the 65th running of the Brian Fry Memorial Open 25 mile time trial promoted by CC Blaenau Gwent, and the 112 riders benefited from a strong tail wind on the leg from Usk to Monmouth. The return leg was into a stiff crosswind that wiped out much of the early gains and resulted in most riders recording times will below their best. Only the strongest riders would post good times, and the overall win was taken by James Wall of Team Echelon-spiuk who prevailed against the wind to set a new course record of 50 minutes, an average speed of 30mph! Drag2Zero.com rider Stu Dodd took second place, with the final step on the podium going to Jon Wynn riding for Northover Vets Rudy Project.
