Gordon Rowlands RIP

I regret to have to inform the club that Gordon Rowlands passed away this afternoon. His wife Nora was at his side when he died.

Gordon joined Abertillery Wheelers in 1947 after riding out to meet the club at the Village Farm, Llangattock for afternoon tea. He was the clubs longest serving General Secretary, a position he held until the end, and was the cornerstone of both Abertillery Wheelers and it successor, CC Blaenau Gwent.

Gordon had a true passion for the sport and for the club and could always be counted on to stand at the side of the road, stopwatch in hand, whatever the weather to ensure that club events took place. His passing leaves a huge void in the club.

All of our prayers and thoughts are with Nora, Rhys and the rest of the family at this difficult time.
