Results from the Aberbeeg Hill Climb...
The Magnificent Seven met at the bottom of the hill to face
the deadly stopwatch of Calvera (Gordon Rowlands) and his bunch of
cohorts (Brian Fry, Owen Pocock, Alan Beecham). They look to veteran
gunslinger Chris Adams (Rhys Rowlands) for guidance, and he tells them
that legs alone will do them no good, they need to use the big ring
when they get to the flat bit.
First to brave the hill was Harry Luck (Paul Hale), believing
there was treasure (PB's) to be found, he sets a storming pace up the steep
inclines.
Next the hotheaded but inexperienced Chico (Matt James) launchs himself
after Luck and sets about the task of reeling him in. Hot on his heels
are Bernardo O'Reilly (Dave Evans) and Lee (Gareth Chislett).
Vin (Martin Latewood) sets of in pursuit, gambling everything on a
27 sprocket, closely followed by Chris. Finally Britt (Ian Davies), fast and
deadly with his Bianchi, hurls himself at the slope and sets off determined to
overhaul the others.
As the battle progresses first to fall is Harry Luck, who is overtaken
by the youthfull Chico who reaches the top first. Bernardo O'Reilly sets a
strong pace, but is overtaken by first Lee and then Vin. Chris despite
being ambushed on the bends, has Bernardo in sight by the top, but just fails to
catch him. Sensing that victory is in the balance, Britt redoubles his efforts
and reaches the summit exhausted but victorious with a Magnificent Seven
second winning margin!
