Ian Davies continued where he left off last season by posting the fastest time in the first sporting event of the season, The Graham Price Memorial 8 mile time trial at Hafodyrynys. His winning time of 21 minutes was just good enough to hold off a rejuvenated Nigel Pearce by a slim eight seconds.

The highlights of the day included Steve Baker putting almost a minute into Merv on a bike that wouldn't look out of place in a skip, while Merv's bike was dripping carbon and still had traces of Christmas wrapping paper.

Lawrence Maggs finishing in the middle of the field after hiding behind a tree just after the first corner. After waiting a decent period he then emerged to what he hoped would be a winning time.
