Welsh Cyclo-Cross League Rnd8 - Builth Wells
Posted:21st-Nov-2006
The three CX regulars made the long trek north to the showground in
Builth Wells for round 8 of the Welsh Cyclo-Cross League.
The first to attempt the hilly course was Eliot Williams, who repeated
his previous weeks performance and finished 8th in the youth race.
The youth race was won by Peter Merridew.
The senior race saw Gareth Chislett and Tony Hudson adopt different
tactics, with Gareth electing to use his mtb while Tony stuck with the
cross bike. Tony's was the better decision, as he stormed into his first
top 10 placing of the series finsihing in 8th place overall and 3rd in the
Vets! Gareth finished towards the middle of the field in 20th place.
The senior event was won by Dale Appleby (Recycling) with Andrew
Baum (Gateway RT) in 2nd and Ross Porter (Cwmcarn Paragon) in 3rd.
Next weeks race will be held at the Velodrome in Newport, and before
somebody asks, the race is around the outside of the velodrome and not
actually on the track. Although given some of the courses Courtney puts together
anythings possible!
The showground was also the final destination for the Sunday club run,
which saw five members making the journey to cheer on the boys! (To eat
the organic burgers if we're honest, but we did offer Tony and Gareth a
bite, which they had to decline due to being in a race at the time.)
