The first round of the WCA Magic Dragon series for 2006 was held under cold and windy conditions. With last years winner, Julian Winn, on Commonwealth games duty in Melbourne the event was wide open. Gavin Pardoe, Arctic Shorter Rochford RT, just failed to go under the hour with 1-00-32 to repeat his win from 2003.

Ian Davies came home in 18th place with 1-11-22.
