Ian Davies sucessfully defendeds his title as HoV Hill Climb champ!
Martin Latewood was the first rider on the road and was quickly caught
by his minute man, Gareth Chislett, after only climbing for eight minutes.
Gareth quickly opened out a 30m gap before Martin was able to up his pace and
start to pull Gareth back.
Tony Hudson, off at number 3, started the climb slowly and only really managed
to get going once he shifted into the big ring. Last man off and defending champ
Ian Davies quickly caught Tony and then proceeded to power up the remainder of the
climb.
Martin used the flatter section of the climb between the two roundabouts
to pull Gareth back to a handfull of meters, but the gap soon re-opened once
the pair were on the final steep climb on the Blaenavon road. Ian paced himself
well over the first part of the climb and as he rounded the final bend, had both
Martin and Gareth in his sights. The distance was too much to close however, and Martin just
scrapped across the finish line a handfull of seconds before Ian, closely followed
by Tony.
